Joshua Peters is the co-author of Twittfaced, an entry-level, social media 101 work designed for newbies to web 2.0. The story today is not so much the book (there are, indeed, many, many new books on social media after all), as it is a model for how nearly anyone can use existing, readily available technology to get stuff done.

Joshua and his fellow author, Jacob Morgan, have never met in the offline world. Their only connected was shared interest around Jacob’s blog content and Twitter. Based upon their online affinity, they boldly ventured to create something for FREE and gave it away without reservation. Their free ebook (again, not an uncommon tool) answered a specific question for a targeted audience: Social Media for Authors.

As the ebook circulated, it caught the attention of a publisher. As many authors dream, the publisher took initiative to contact Joshua and requested he write a book.

The story is actually a case study vignette that should inspire folks to dream a little bigger about what can be done through online collaboration.
