The inaugural meeting of the Greenville Social Media Club, headed up by Trey Pennington of ShowCase Marketing, was held on January 11, 2009 at Soby’s on South Main Street in Downtown Greenville. The guest speaker was Geno Church, a word-of-mouth-marketing trailblazer and creative genius. About 100 of the “social elite” and others that were interested in growing their business through social media were in attendance. Two Greenville ex-pats (Steven Weathers in Shanghai and Rob Williams in Orlando) picked up the live stream and hosted remote (hey, even international) Social Media Club Greenville meetings.
