How to make sure your stuff POPS!

by trey on January 27, 2010

“Help! I’m drowing!”

You probably felt that way about information overload BEFORE you added social media to your daily routine. Now you, me and everyone else are drowning in a swirling sea of data, appeals, ads, options, opt-ins, opt-outs and so many pop-up screens we’re all pooped-out. The problem is, as business owners and leaders, we still have to communicate and connect.

On my radio show, Social Media Professor, I spoke with someone who can help: Sam Horn. Sam is someone who knows how to make product names, taglines and headlines POP! She assures us we “don’t have to have an MBA or a multimillion-dollar budget to create one-of-a-kind ideas, products, and messages. All you need is the POP! Process: a fun, fascinating, and strategic approach for making your message purposeful, original, and pithy—to generate instant intrigue and word-of-mouth buzz.”

So sorry for the link challenge. The first link goes to BlogTalkRadio.com and they have told me they're working on the problem.

The brownish box at the bottom left corner of the post is an audio player. if you'll click on it, the show will play.

My 2¢ on the reading recommendation: personally, I'm giving social media books a rest for the moment. i read 26 of them last year. This year I'm focusing on older works.

Amongst the three you mentioned, I'd go with Inbound Marketing.

    Hey Trey,

I tried following the link to your interview, but the page never loaded.

I'm looking forward to reading POP.  I bought that book along with several others at the end of December.  I'm odd like that.  I typically buy books in bulk and chew through them.  I was thinking about reading Chris Brogans book Trust Agents and/or Inbound Marketing next.  Is POP a better book to move to the front of the reading queue?

    Thanks,
    Justin
